Mawgan Porth has a perfect central location, with access to anywhere in Cornwall in under an hour's drive, from Saltash and Bude right down to Lands End, – and whilst you might be tempted by the Eden Project; Bodmin Moors’ wild scenery; or the Tate gallery at St Ives; if you are looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday, you won’t need to leave the village - which means you can leave the car parked at your accommodation in Mawgan Porth .

Mawgan Porth is a very small village centred on it's most obvious attraction - the large sandy ,Mawgan porth beach complete with river, rockpools and caves. The beachfront area includes most of the facilities necessary for a summer holiday day out - a pub, a licensed cafe, newsagent and beach goods shop, a supermarket and a fish and chip shop.

The local family attractions, include a surf school, crazy golf - or the more challenging hillside pitch-n-putt - a full golf course, Merlin Golf Course, just a miles away from Mawgan Porth's centre and St Eval Go karts two miles away. For a more serene experience of course there's St Eval candle factory with a wide range of scented and shaped candles with the chance to make your own.

Fans of souvenirs can pick through the collection of stores, including the ever-popular Disco Beads, a childrens 'jewellery' store with the opportunity to make their own on a rainy afternoon, as well as Betty's Newsagents and the local supermarket Cornish Fresh to provide all manner of foodstuffs and magazines to keep beachgoers busy - the more adventurous of visitors can book lessons with Mawgan Porth's acclaimed surfing school, King Surf, who cater for all abilities and hire out equipment to save the weight in the car.

Mawgan Porth has many footpaths linking local farmland & countryside and coastal routes, allowing a wide variety of walking, from a stroll through Carnanton woods to a circular walk round the three local pubs. At Sun Haven Valley we can give the more ambitious walker a variety of routes including Beare's Down windfarm & back or the round trip to St Columb Major. For an exceptional experience sit on the top front seat of the double decker bus to Padstow, get off at Portcothan and walk back along the cliff-top Coastal footpath. This same bus, or your car, can take you to nearby Bedruthan steps, the magnificent National Trust landmark, or you can go south to Watergate Bay, more famous perhaps but far more crowded.

There are famous eateries just a short drive away, with Rick Stein in Padstow, and Jamie Olver in Watergate Bay and quick easy alternatives in Newquay with the usual fast food joints, but for an easy and enjoyable affair Mawgan Porth will more than satisfy your cravings.

There really is something for everyone dining in Mawgan Porth. For special occasions why not try The Scarlett Hotel, a modern and stylish restaurant with views overlooking Mawgan Porth Bay and out to sea, for a memorable luxurious experience in adult-only surroundings. The Scarlet's sister hotel, The Bedruthan Steps Hotel , has a similar vibe in nearby Trevarrian - also overlooking Mawgan Porth Bay - where the whole family is invited.
