Connected to Superfast Broadband

As many of our customers know we have struggled for years to get a better internet connection and at the beginning of June 2019, we were finally connected. The internets speeds have been fairly regular around 60mbps, with only a few small hiccups along the way.

For 2019 the coverage on site will remain very much the same, whilst the speeds and strength of the connection will be dramatically increased. We are hoping in the future to increase the coverage of the WiFi at Sun Haven Valley.

This year we have bought in 3 new "Swift Bordeaux caravans" and have put them in at plots 13, 24, and 15 as "Luxury Lawnsides".
- With added terraces and garden furniture these 'upper-market' vans will be highly popular - and there's still a family debate to whether we will sell 24 & 25 into private ownership !! But if you are interested please let us know.

As part of our 2019 upgrades we have also added terraces to the inner ring of caravans

Terraces have been added to the Lawnsides: 14 & 15 the 2 Bedroom Luxury Lawnsides: 19, 20, & 24
and the 3 Bedroom Luxury Lawnsides: 12, 13, 16, 25 - though some of the web pages are awaiting new pictures

Where to eat ?

Well if you really are feeling lazy, at the top of the site there's a small independant open-air Cafe ( with some covered seating) called "Off the Path"- they served delious breakfasts and lunches with a variety of hot and cold options, 'proper' coffee and limited alcoholic beverages. Then there's Mawgan Porth Pools - our next door neighbour with the fishing lakes - he has an indoor cafe where, in season, you can get the traditional 'full english' to set you up for the day. - and of course 'Scott and Babs' are stil 500 yards away at Rettorick Mill serving their smoked and wood-fire cooked food'

During th esummer we'll be inviting back Il Forno Pizza for Steve and Becky to continue cooking their highly popular pizza's on Saturday & Sunday nights on pitch 89- nearly always sold out - so get there early!

If you don't mind a 20 minute walk there The Falcon in St Mawgan and The merrimoor Inn on the beachfront - also reachable by car, but then if you are into your vehicle 5 minutes away there's 'Smugglers Inn' at the top of St Mawgan and the Travellers Rest at Trevarrian where we usually have our Sunday lunch.

- and if you like the thought of all those pubs ask Steve about the 3+ pubs walk - a cracking day out.

First Kernow Buses

In 2018 there were several changed made in terms of the buses operating around the Newquay area. We are now on route A5, however the service has been severely curtailed and in reality you need to walk the half mile to Mawgan Porth for a regular bus

For the latest bus times please visit the First Kernow Journey Planner website or pick up the timetable for our passing bus on route A5 ( also usually posted on site)

Mawgan Porth's Donkey Derby

Every other Tuesday in the main holiday season, guests can enjoy a fun and exciting authentic treat, in the form of the Donkey Derby. Join visitors and locals in this family-friendly evening entertainment - rain or shine - and enoy a quick punt on the likely winner, or even ride to win as a jockey! In addition to hilarious commentary, numerous races and the "betting stand," there's also a collection of simple but comical competitions, including welly-wangling, and a BBQ.

Summer camping 'al fresco'

Opening in the main season is our new summer camping field, just next door to the site.

summer camping

The summer field gives you truly 'open field' camping with al the space you want - but with all the facilities 'next door'. The plan above shows the field in red with the nearest toilet block ( and water) edged in blue, whilst the main facilities are edged in yellow. The summer field also serves as a dog exercise area, allowing all guests the opportunity to stretch their legs in a safe environment.

What did the AA say ?

Our latest report read ""It was good to visit Sun Haven Valley again and catch up with Nicky in reception - she was happy for me to carry out my inspection on my own. The pitches were well maintained with the grass cut and the surrounding grounds, hedges, trees, shrubs and flowers all looking good. The facilities were spotless with good attention to detail paid to the cleaning. The dish wash area and laundry were equally as clean. The camper's kitchen was well equipped with two microwaves and a toaster. The children's play area was clean and tidy with good sturdy play equipment. The games room is well equipped with a TV lounge next door. A very well managed and maintained park. I can confirm that the AA classification remains at 4 Pennant with an increased Quality Score of 86%"" .

Play train playgroundAlong with the 2 climbing towers, the ever popular play train basketball hoop,
table tennis and swings set, there is plenty to tire the most energetic of our younger visitors. The TV and Games rooms will preoccupy any older children in your party

Holiday Groceries - Don't load them in the car !

Sainsbury's and Asda Tesco's will deliver your online shopping to the site, and when you give them your accommodation or pitch number they'll deliver straight to your door - just make sure you're here for when they arrive! Remember, during the summer we stock a selection of bread, pastries and Cornish Pasties baked and delivered fresh most days. - Thise who remeber the 'ban' on the dangerous Tesco drivers will be pleased to know that the ban has been lifted

Wi-Fi

We have wi-fi - but only of a sort. Fast broadband is currently 5Mb on a good day and the only fibres come from a horses tail ! You will be able to email and use social media but we aren't sure you'll be able to watch movies.
We are unable to reliably use internet banking because the faults on the line cause so many frequent disconnections and it is interesting that it will shorty be a legal requirement for us to submit our inland revenue returns over the

internet - but no-one has a legal duty to supply us with (working) internet !
STOP PRESS - The council are suggesting we will get reliable internet in 2019 due to EU funding - will it happen ????

No laptop?? Why not use our (20p) internet-access machines to open your email and browse the net - available in reception and the Information Room - and there's four more pc's in the Games Room.

We have some parental restrictions in place but most social media platforms are accessible, including Facebook and Twitter.

Pay by Instalments

We are quite happy to take "payment by instalments." If this would help your budgeting you can pay for your holiday with a series of bank transfers which we will credit against the holiday cost. Under this payment plan, if the instalments are equal and regular and start no later than March, we would also consider bringing the final due date forward to 4 weeks before the holiday, as opposed to the current six.
