Why go anywhere else?

In 2015, we started to introduce food carts, and with the varied success have decided to continue this for 2016. So Tony's Breakfast bar is set up throughout August, serving you a selection of hot breakfasts and freshly ground coffee to get your day started in the right way - he'll also sort you out on Thursday nights with his BBQ burger stand, serving up homemade burgers and chips, cooked to order, alongside a fresh salad bar.

If you were here last year, you'll remember Il Forno Pizza run by Steve and Becky on Saturday nights. They were hugely popular - so much so that we've booked them in for Saturday AND Sundays this year, and they're nearly always sold out - so get there early! Il Forno serve you a choice of freshly made authentic Italian pizzas, and garlic breads, with a choice of sweet treats including a Nutella calzone

In addition to hot fresh food served on site, you're within walkihg distance of a selection of highly sought eateries, including Scott and Babs at Retorrick Mill, The Falcon Inn, and the Catch on Mawgabn Porth beachfront.

Any you may even remember the Crepe cart, run by Les? He's not setting up on site any more, but he has decided to serve them on Mawgan Porth beachfront, just outside Betty's so you're onl;y a short walk away from fabulous views and fabulous food

First Kernow Buses

In 2015 there were several changed made in terms of the buses operating around the Newquay area. We are now on route 56, however Sun Haven Valley is no longer an official 'stop', therefore the bus will only 'stop' on request.

For the latest bus times please visit the First Kernow website.

Farewell Western Greyhound Buses

Our local buses run by Western Greyhound ceased service on Friday 13th March 2015 which has put an end to the hourly buses to Newquay and Padstow. Our routes have been picked up by First Kernow, who will still take you to Padstow and Newquay but we know they're only running three times a day each way.

What's New for 2015

We have been busy preparing for our visitors during 2015. We have undertaken some renovations in our Bungalows and Valley Caravans and completed some planned maintenance and redecoration within the main shower block.

We love the fact that we're a short distance from any noisy neighbours, however we also want our guests to really enjoy their stay - so we're setting up a weekly food diary, telling where you can eat each night instead of cooking. At the moment we have confirmed bookings with AtHomeTrailer on Mondays, which is a food cart selling mexican inspired food, and "The Melting Pot" selling gourmet hot dogs, burgers and an amazing pulled pork dish on Tuesdays.

The Menahyl Tea Gardens (across the road from site as you begin the walk to St Mawgan) will also be open for breakfasts and lunch. Scott & Babs from the Park Café have opened a new wood fired food outlet at Retorrick Mill serving a daily menu of delicious homecooked food - they also have regular banquet evenings in the quieter months of the year. You can find out more by going on Facebook.

Mawgan Porth's Donkey Derby

Every other Tuesday in the main holiday season, guests can enjoy a fun and exciting authentic treat, in the form of the Donkey Derby. Join visitors and locals in this family-friendly evening entertainment - rain or shine - and enoy a quick punt on the likely winner, or even ride to win as a jockey! Pictured here is special guest Owen, taken August 10th 2014! In addition to hilarious commentary, numerous races and the "betting stand," there's also a collection of simple but comical competitions, including welly-wangling, and a BBQ!

New in 2014

Opening in the main season is our new summer camping field, sharing the same valley-side setting of the Vale of Lanherne.

summer camping

In addition to replacing our open-park camping in August, which was on the other side of the valley, the summer field also serves as a dog exercise area, allowing all guests the opportunity to stretch their legs in a safe environment. Those interested in camping in the field can enjoy less restrictions on tent-sizes as well as a dedicated area, which is separate from the play area.

What did the AA say ?

As part of our annual inspection (where we again acheived 4 pennants and increased our 'scores') in April 2013 the inspector commented:

"This very tidy 7 acre site is set on a valley side with trees and river below. the touring area has had major improvements to make the pitches self draining with works having been carried out along the river banks. The facilities blocks are spotlessly clean and modern with the installation of infra-red controlled showers. There is a lovely wooden chalet-style information room and a great children's play area with ducks and guinea-pigs proving quite a hit with the children. This lovely site is just a 10-minute walk through beautiful woodland to the sandy beach of Mawgan Porth and lcoal shops and restaurants."

Playtime in 2013

wendy house

Those of you who stayed with us in the Summer of 2013 will have noticed our latest addition to the Children's Play Area. Presenting our Wendy House, which is in the process of being decorated inside and out, in the younger children's play area next to the sandpit. Pictures to follow on completion!

Along with the 2 climbing towers, the ever popular play train (both pictured below) basketball hoop, table tennis and swings set, there is plenty to tire the most energetic of our younger visitors. The TV and Games rooms will preoccupy any older children in your party.

New for 2014

In 2012 we installed 5 new units to our static caravan range and their modern decor and generous layouts have had them booked-out ever since. The Continentals, Luxury Lawnsides and Grand Manor have unique features to entice visitors, including our first-ever bathroom and private wooden terraces. In 2014 we are adding to our impressive collection with 2 new Luxury Lawnsides, and for the first time they will be sleeping up to 6. They will be sited along the valley side, at the very top and very bottom of the inside "ring," complete with French doors opening onto the main lawns. We will update this page after installation. These pitcures are displaying our Luxury Caravans.

Free transport for "Senior Citizens"

Did you know that your local bus pass is valid in Cornwall ? The Western Greyhound bus that runs past our gate will take you to either Padstow or Newquay (and onwards from there) at no charge if you remember to bring your OAP's bus pass with you. Naturally there are restrictions, but providing you hold an England issued pass and are happy to travel off-peak, the county is your oyster. Sadly in this instance passes issued in Wales and Scotland are not eligible for use. Off-peak times are 930 to 2300, bank holidays and weekends.

Holiday Groceries - Don't load them in the car !

Sainsbury's and Asda will deliver your online shopping to the site, and when you give them your accommodation or pitch number they'll deliver straight to your door - just make sure you're here for when they arrive! Remember, during the summer we stock a selection of bread, pastries and Cornish Pasties baked and delivered fresh most days. *NB* Due to a series of unfortunate but consequential events in 2013, Tesco delivery vans are not permitted access to the site under any circumstances.

Relax on our campsite in Cornwall knowing you can now stay in touch with friends & family using our Wi-Fi service. Keep everybody up to date with your daily exploits, and brag about the great time you are having! Bring your laptop, tablet or smartphone (with Wifi card if necessary) and you should be able to connect. We offer a free no-obligation trial for peace of mind, as we cannot guarantee that all devices will work across all areas of the site. There is a small charge for this service.

No laptop?? Why not use our internet-access machines to open your email and browse the net - available in Reception, the Information Room with four more in the Games Room. We have some parental restrictions in place but most social media platforms are accessible, including Facebook and Twitter.

Pay by Instalments

In 2011 we ran a succesful trial of "pay by instalments." If this would help your budgeting you can pay for your holiday with a series of bank transfers which we will credit against the holiday cost. Under this payment plan, if the instalments are equal and regular and start no later than March, we would also consider bringing the final due date forward to 4 weeks before the holiday, as opposed to the current six.
