When planning your journey Once you're on the A30 heading West you're getting close!

The Last Leg

If you're towing, we VERY strongly suggest that ignore your SatNav and you follow our recommended route below - your SATNAV will almost certainly try to take you through St Mawgan, a very pretty, conservation village unchanged for hundreds of years. with very narrow streets, mainly single lane accommodating two-way traffic, including a narrow right angled turn over a high stone-walled , single lane bridge - all on a double decker bus route !!. Some earlier Satnavs have errors in the programming that could take you to other local very pretty bits of countryside close to us that will necessitate you reversing back along single track lanes. BUT all avoided if you let the recommended route overide the Satnav

If you take our recommended route past the airport and through Mawgan Porth there are two sharp bends to take carefully but only half a mile of Cornish lane. We are in the 'remote' Cornish countryside, so this last stretch is unavoidable, but it does mean we enjoy practically no traffic noise as. Please be aware that the last half a mile is single lane with passing points, and a regular bus service, but if yo uphone us when you are close (at the airport) we can offer you details on what time the bus should be on that road.

Our recommended route

Follow the A30 down past Bodmin to the Newquay turn-off.

Take the off-ramp at the “Highgate Hill” junction, signposted Newquay A392 & Wadebridge A39, to join the roundabout underneath the A30. Turn right, taking the A39 towards Wadebridge.

At the next roundabout ¾ mile on, again follow the A39 towards Wadebridge.

At the next roundabout 2 miles on, turn LEFT on the A3059 towards Newquay

Some 2¾ miles on, just past the petrol garage, turn right on the B3276 towards Newquay Airport, Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay.

Warning - DO NOT TURN RIGHT ALONG THIS ROAD ( which your Sat nav may tell you to, and which will take you down into St Mawgan) So - Drive past the airport on your left and (2¾ miles on ) until you get to a T junction and at that T junction, turn right on the B3276 towards Mawgan Porth & Padstow.

Follow the road through Trevarrian, and on down a steep hill. There is a sharp right bend into Mawgan Porth, overlooking the beach, and a narrow bridge at the bottom of the hill.

Cross the bridge and take the road on the right (Chapel Road) leading inland away from the sea. If you've taken the right turn, the mini golf course will be on your left and you will pass the Village Hall on the right.

¼ Mile further up this road, you will cross a tiny bridge and then follow the road through a very sharp ‘S’ bend. Please note that this last half mile is a country lane with "Cornish Hedges" (6ft stone walls covered with turf) Please be aware that the last half a mile is single lane with passing points, and a regular bus service, but we can offer you details on what time the bus should be on that road if you call ahead.

After this half mile you'll find Sun Haven Valley on the left. We have a double-width entrance with a thirteen foot arch - it's difficult to miss.

Reception is just inside the gate on the left.

Alternative route; from Newquay along the coast road.

From the A3059 (Henver Road) , at the "double roundabout" turn North on the B3276 signposted Porth Beach.

Follow this coastal road past Porth Beach, through Watergate Bay and continune along the B3276 left towards Mawgan Porth.

Follow the road leading downhill, and through the sharp bend into Mawgan Porth at beach level.

Cross the bridge and take the road on the right leading inland away from the sea. If you've taken the right turn, the mini golf course will be on your left and you will pass the Village Hall on the right.
