The French doors open for the first customers on our new caravans
The new caravans are up and running. With french doors on the end the "lawnsides" (nos 14 and 15) face West to the setting sun and have steps down to the outdoor seating, whilst the grand court opens out onto a raised terrace with garden furniture and a staircase down to the lawns.

Spring has sprung
We had frosts until mid-March this year and the grass didn;t start growing until after Easter but spring must have sprung as we have 31 additions to our little menagerie. 3 cockatiels, 5 new guinea pigs were born at the beginning of May and then, after a night-time raid on our duck house, we were left (we thought) with only two ducks, when two more arrived back from their free-range nest sites with 10 & 13 ducklings behind them. Removed to the safe & warm confines of the kitchen we now have a new flock of ducks who should just about be outside in time for Whitsun,

Free transport for "Senior Citizens" from our gate
Did you know; as many of our early-season regulars do; that your local bus pass is valid in Cornwall ? The Newquay-Padstow bus that runs past our gate will take you to either padstow or Newquay (and onwards from there) at no charge if you remember to bring your OAP's bus pass with you. UPDATE - due to governmental devolution this applies to English bus passes only - Scotish & Welsh passes are not accepted - free travel is limited to off peak times - between the hours of 09:30 and 23:00 -as well as throughout the day on Bank Holidays and at the weekend. .

So who Won the holidays ?
Each year we run a avriety of "lucky draws" that result in someone winning a free holiday. This year congratulations to Mr & Mrs Bone of Leicester who won a week in a static caravan and Mrs Morgan of Cheltenham who won a weeks camping for simply submitting suggestions forms at reception -- and in our Photography Competition Mrs Susan Pretty was judges by a local photograher & advertising consultant to have submitted the best picture. The standard of submitted pictures was superb and we are very glad that we didn't have to make the decision. Decide for yourselves at Photography Competition (click the link to see the entries)

Disabled access caravan for 2010
Our family six caravan is going to be replaced by a "Disabled Access" Willerby Westmorland. This 2 bedroom caravan, which will sleep 6 by use of the lounge bed, has wider accesses, lowered surfaces and other features to assist those needing wheelchair access. Pictures will shortly be available at our caravan gallery (No 35)

New caravans for 2010
2010 will see a new style of caravan at Sun Haven - the ever popular "Willerby Westmorland" but with french doors at the end of the caravan opening out onto the main lawns - with the added comfort of central heating and double glazing. The 2 bedroom vans, (being a very spacious 35'x12'), will sit on the inland side of the central square with the french doors facing West ( becoming no14 & 15), whilst the 3 bedroom 38'x12' will take pride of place at the park entrance (in position no 22) and will have a terrace built overlooking the main lawns. Pictures and further details to follow.

Caravan Chess
......and all these new caravans leaves us playing a game of chess with many of the other caravans. No 32 will leave the park to be replaced by No 27, which in turn will be replaced by the family six from No 35. The family six at No 6 will be replaced by the summer six from No 22 (to become our first pet-friendly 3 bedroomed summer six) and as they leave the park Nos 7 & 8 will be upgraded to "family fives" by moving caravans 14 & 15 from the inner square to the outer square .......... or at least thats wht we were going to do the last time we discussed it ..........& if you booked in 2009 before you left, don't worry, your booking will hold for the POSITION of caravan you booked - you might just get a rather nice upgrade with our compliments !

The new playground towers go in!

new playground
towers

As planned, though not quite on time, the two new playground towers have been installed. One has a 3 level platform, and there are a variety of "rock" slopes, slides, firemans poles, monkey bars & swings PLUS a "clatter bridge" yet to be installed. We also have to add a few finishing touches and complete the safety surfacing so they probably won't be ready for use until Easter - but will be providing fun & excitement for quite a wHile to come.

OPEN PARK CAMPING IS BACK FOR 2010
By popular demand you will again be able to spend August camping high on the side of the Lanheren Valley, or down by the stream, "aux-naturelle" - NO - you keep your clothes on ! - but no tarmac roads, no electric hook-ups or light bollards, just spectacular views down towards Mawgan Porth beach & looking down on the Barn Owl hunting the stream banks at twilight, or be beside the stream listening to the brook bubbling in the still sunshine gazing up at the circling buzzards.
From £15.50/night for 2 adults with full use of Sun Havens facilities - but limited availability

August 8th - Dolphins at Mawgan Porth
A south african surfer who had paddled out quite a way from Mawgan Porth beach was horrified to see two fins protruding from the waves coming towards him. In his previous surfing days off Durban beachfront, fins mean sharks & danger. It was the English surfer with him who pointed out that the fins belonged to two dolphins surfing alongside them enjoying a succession of large waves rolling in. Fins being faster than surfboards, the dolphins quickly disappeared into the wavefront but were seen several times more - but I doubt the two dolphins had any idea of the excitement they caused before they swam off.

Newspapers -
During the high season, "Betty's newsagent" from Mawgan Porth will deliver newspapers to our shop, so if you have a particular requirement please let us know

Holiday Groceries - Don't load them in the car !
For internet users did you realise that Tesco direct & Asda will deliver to the site ? give them your caravan number or pitch number ( and make sure you are here when they arrive ! ) - & don't forget to try the daily home-baked bread from the organic farm next door

Wi-Fi is here !!
Whilst relaxing in Cornwall you can now stay in touch with friends & keep them up to date with what a great time you are having. Bring your laptop & Wi-fi card & you. No laptop ?? then use our internet-access machines to open your web based email and browse the net - available in reception and the information room with four more in the games room - and now allow access to fdacebook & other socail network sites.
