Cornwall is one of the most beautiful counties in England and exploring it by car will add to the enjoyment of your holiday. With so many interesting and stunning places to visit you will be spoilt for choice. Take time out from the holiday park and discover some of the delights Cornwall has to offer.
Head approximately 5 miles north to the quaint Cornish fishing village of Padstow, where the seafood is always fresh and delicious. The Camel Estuary is popular with water sport enthusiasts who enjoy waterskiing, windsurfing and sailing here. Take a scenic boat trip along the estuary or go fishing for mullet.
A further 20 miles north is the magical castle of Tintagel. Its stunning location set high up on the rugged north Cornish coast provides spectacular views and its beautiful beach cafe and fascinating ruins make it the perfect day trip. Steeped in mystery and legend and said to be the birthplace of King Arthur, this iconic tourist attraction is one of the best in Cornwall. You can also visit nearby Merlin`s Cave.
Approximately 5 miles south of Sunhaven Valley is the popular seaside resort of Newquay. The town is best known for its superb surfing beaches but offers a lot more including gardens, a zoo, swimming, tennis, squash, a harbour to explore, shops to peruse, nightlife to enjoy and lots of super places to eat.
For a full day out why not visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan in a morning and spend the afternoon at the Eden Project. Alternatively spend an entire day at either of these popular attractions.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan near Pentewan, St Austell are 20 miles southeast of the Holiday Park. Discover these beautiful and mysterious world renowned gardens and explore over 200 acres of gardens which include the Victorian productive gardens, lush sub-tropical jungle, romantic pleasure grounds, the pioneering Wildlife project and more.
Depart Heligan and drive 10 miles north to the fabulous Eden Project. Explore these extraordinary gardens with tropical biodomes housing a vast array of biodiversity. This charitable project continues to lead in research and education into environmental projects. It also hosts fantastic arts, theatre and music events throughout the year.
With so many fascinating and beautiful places to visit in the surrounding area it is highly recommended to take advantage of cheap car rental agencies and get out and about and explore this first rate county. With so many top notch tourist attractions nearby, a holiday in this stunning location is sure to please everyone.

For a little variety Treloy Golf Club

is 4 miles away to the South and Trevose Golf Club 6 miles to the North.

Kite Surfing, Kite Buggies and Power Kites
Just over a mile from the park, the somewhat busier Watergate Bay beach offers a small school for 'extreme' beach sports which, when conditions allow, offers lessons in kite surfing, flying power kites & driving kite buggies. Watergate Bay Extreme Sports

Wildlife
The park has a host of resident wildlife. Pheasants, badgers, foxes, deer are all regular out-of-season visitors and you would be very unlucky not to see our buzzards circle above you during your stay, but if you are looking for something more exotic there are several local attractions to help you find them:
Newquay Zoo
Monkey Sanctury
Owl Sanctuary - including Falconry course of half a day & more
Cornish Birds of Prey
or slightly further afield are Gweek seal sanctuary and the Otters in Launceston at Tamar Otters

Riding
Trimbleath Farm is one mile from the park and from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm offers a choice of pre-bookable accompanied 1 or 2 Hour rides for singles or groups or even a supervised "Own a pony for a day".

Walking
With the South West Coastal Path just 3/4 mile from our doorstep there is some of the country's most spectacular coastal scenery awaiting you. In both directions a bus ride out will give you a purely coastal walk back, finishing up with some light refreshment at the Merrymoor Inn before walking the 10 minutes back up the valley to the campsite. We can also supply you with details of circular routes.

Coarse Fishing
The Lakes of Mawgan Porth Pools are on the edge of the Sun Haven Valley Park and offer both a "specimen" lake and a larger well-stocked lake (1.5 acre) with 46 pegs to fish for mirror & common carp, tench & bream. Catches of 100lbs + have been recorded by holidaymakers at Sun Haven Valley. Regular competitions are held. If you are looking for a variety of fisheries during your stay, we are within a few miles of Meadowside fisheries and Porth Lakes.

Trout Fishing
For 'natural' trout - we are within reach of Stithians lake - probably Englands most westerley large trout fishery, and in the other direction Crowdy Lake near Camelford offers trout fishing to fly, spinner or bait.

Local Attractions
St Mawgan's Japanese Garden & Bonsai Nursery
Crealy Adventure Park

The centre of the village of St.Mawgan, a mile away by cross-country footpath, is as pretty a village as you will find in Cornwall complete with stream, ford, village shop, church, convent and of course a village pub with fine food and real ale.

Surfing and Surf School
With Mawgan Porth’s west facing beach, surfers will encounter the same waves as world-famous Newquay, but on a much quieter beach. The surf school on the beachfront offers a range of lessons to cover all abilities including one-to-one sessions, a similar lesson for couples, or general come-along-and-join us lessons – including (in 2007) a 6.30-9pm session to keep the kids busy in the evening. www.kingsurf.co.uk

Go Carting & ATV
Just a few miles from the park, St,Eval Go cart circuit has 4 tracks from 200m to 1200m, including fly-over & figure-of-8 with Karts from the 12mph 'Bambini' carts for children of 6+ yrs, up to the enthusiasts 70mph pro-karts. St Eval Go Karts - or for off-road ATV driving, you can travel half-an-hour up the road to Bodmin to try the three circuits on ATV's from 50cc to 125cc The ATV Centre

Climbing and Abseiling
Whilst this is normally frowned on along beachside cliffs, the Adventure Centre in Newquay offers specialised instructors for day long courses including the chance to try the longest, highest & fastest aerial wire ropeway in Europe ? finished off with a 50ft abseil.

Bike Hire
A local bike-hire shop will deliver bicycles for your use (& collect them afterwards). http://www.gobycycle.co.uk

- but also the Camel Trail at Padstow is not to be missed. A level, mainly tarmac path alongside the estuary is suitable for anyone who can ride a bike ( it's also walkable but short stretches may give roller skates a problem) and if you go as far as Wadebridge the round trip back to Padstow is a couple of hours ( 12 miles) - for the more adventurous there are some 22miles of route to explore.

At the Screech Owl Sanctuary on Goss Moor it is now possible to hire bicycles for the new Goss Moor Trail.

Shark Fishing / Deep sea or Wreck Fishing
There are boats for day trips at both Padstow & Newquay.
